  • How long does it take the driveway to cure?

We recommend staying off of the driveway for two days after asphalt paving installation. Please do not park on your new driveway for at least 48 hours.

  • What is asphalt made of?

Asphalt paving is made of sand, stone, and liquid asphalt.

  • What is recycled asphalt milling?

Recycled asphalt millings are reclaimed sections of asphalt from highways, parking lots, or driveways. These old materials are crushed and recycled, and asphalt paving companies use them for base material. They can also be a great alternative to stone for your driveway or parking lots. The installation process is similar to asphalt paving. It is machine-laid and compacted by asphalt rolling machines. If you're on a budget or the cost is too high for a larger driveway, this is a great solution. It is totally maintenance-free and has the potential to bind together over time.

  • What sort of maintenance is required to prolong the life of my driveway or parking lot?

Seal coating is a form of preventative asphalt maintenance. It is important to keep up with this periodically. We suggest scheduling a seal coating every two to three years, depending on use. Due to strong UV rays from the sun, oxidation occurs in your asphalt, causing it to become brittle. It dries out the tar, which is the binder that holds your asphalt together. This causes it to become more prone to cracking and loss of aggregate. Sealer also protects against harsh winter elements like freezing rain and snow. Sealcoating waterproofs and replenishes your asphalt to extend the life of your driveway or parking lot.

  • Should I dig out my driveway or can I resurface?

Digging out your driveway is only necessary if the existing driveway has too many cracks or soft areas to be paved over. Dig-out paving installation includes removal of the entire surface and disposal of materials offsite, grading the underlayment, adding new crushed stone or base material, and compaction of stone. Three inches of new black top are installed by machine and then compacted.

Resurfacing your driveway is very common. In fact, black top is designed to be resurfaced. Many highways, secondary roads, driveways, and parking lots have been resurfaced. As long as the existing driveway has a stable base, it can be resurfaced. The installation process includes removal of the black top near joining areas such as a concrete garage area, sidewalks, and the entrance to the street for transitioning purposes. Any broken or failed areas will need asphalt repair before paving. Resurfacing includes paving over the existing surface with 2 inches of new black top.

  • What causes asphalt to crack?

Cracking can occur in asphalt when there is not enough base material to support the weight of vehicles, insufficient thickness of black top when installed, or a lack of proper asphalt maintenance or seal coating.

  • What is the difference between asphalt sealer and pavement resurfacing?

With driveway paving, you're getting a new installation. On the other hand, sealing is considered preventative asphalt maintenance. Coating will not get rid of cracks, but repaving is a great way to fix cracks.

  • Will my business be impacted during your work?

Commercial asphalt paving is essential not only for aesthetics but for safety reasons as well. Paving will prevent pot holes and other issues that could lead to lawsuits or injuries in pedestrians, employees, or customers. Installation will help improve your business without disrupting your business hours or access to customers. Commercial properties incur a higher volume of traffic compared to residential properties, so the wear and tear happens more quickly. It's important to have your parking lot in good working condition by having it repaved and maintained regularly.

  • Will you do line striping for my business's parking lot?

Yes! Unlike other local asphalt paving companies, we offer a range of services, including line striping.

  • What are my paving options for my commercial property?

We offer a number of paving options, including resurfacing -- which is more cost-effective -- as well as milling and paving. It's important to be proactive in getting your parking lot paved before it reaches a condition where it needs to be replaced. Both resurfacing and paving will provide a new surface, but asphalt maintenance is important as well.
